I Love My Vintage Tee: American Ringer

I have to admit I am a beach girl, so on the days I am out of the office, I can easily get away with a casual look, complete with flip-flops and a ponytail. But does this mean I have to sacrifice style and panache? Absolutely not. An easy fix is to rock a vintage tee made of good fabric with your fave pair of jeans, a good handbag and shoes.

This solution has led to my undying love affair with vintage t-shirts. Whether they’re in or out, donned by celebs or teens, it doesn’t matter to me. They’re cool, they’re hip and definite conversation starters. Now that those silly Little Miss This-and-That shirts are sooo played out (thank goodness!), it’s time to set a new trend, but with something of higher quality and more creativity.

The old school brand Serial Killer was probably one of the all-time coolest, but unfortunately, the brilliant creator passed away long before his time and the brand faded into the depths of the obscurity. Therefore, I cannot put into words how excited I was to discover a gem of a brand that produces extremely unique, stylish tees that you will be dying to wear: American Ringer. These nostalgia tees absolutely blow away the ones you can find in the uber-pricey vintage stores, and keep the price way lower, so you can rock the coolest shirts around without breaking the bank.

What’s the most fun about this product line is that you can immortalize your favorite pop culture icons, television shows, cartoons and movies from the 60s, 70s and 80s on these unbelievably comfy, super soft tees. Fans of everything from “The Hardy Boys,” “The Osmonds” and the “Dukes of Hazzard” to “Alien,” “Star Wars,” “Grease,” “Jaws” and even classics like “Gone With the Wind” can find the ultimate shirt in which to live out their dreams. I especially like the savvy female heroines, such as Wonder Woman, the Bionic Woman, Suzanne Somers and Cheryl Tiegs (if those aren’t your type of heroines, don’t worry — there is something for everyone). For the boys, there are idols like Burt Reynolds, Superman, Yoda, Kojak and, of course, John Travolta. The choices are vast, and simply going through the Web site will take you on a nostalgic trip filled with some good laughs and reminders of the past.

American Ringer tees come in a vast array of fun colors, and a good array of styles in addition to the classic ringer. Rocking these wildly fun and creative shirts will let you exude your individuality and verve. When I wear my Farrah Fawcett tee, I get noticed at the grocery store, the post office and even on the street. I’m a single woman, so if I can wear something that gets me noticed and serves as an icebreaker, without showing all my goods, I am all for it. What I like about the company is that all of its products are made in America, a rare thing to find these days. Oh, and absolutely no sweat shops used in the making of these fab tees!

These shirts are extremely limited in design, so the chance of you running into someone else wearing the same baby is about zero — and we all know there is nothing better than wearing a one-of-a-kind. In fact, each one is an authentic, limited, licensed print from the time era, so once they are gone … they are gone forever! I am going to bet the Web site has at least one of your all-time favorites and the shirts are perfect gifts for the hard-to-buy for person in your life. What I love most is they are perfect to throw on in a dash, so you can be comfortable and still look stylish. What is savvier than this?
